Ribeiro moves permanently to Brazil

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim and Lucas Ribeiro dos Santos have parted ways definitively. The 24-year-old central defender has completed a permanent move back to his homeland Brazil, where he has joined top-flight relegated club Ceará SC – whom he joined on loan since January 2022. His contract in Hoffenheim was valid until 30 June 2024.

Lucas Ribeiro dos Santos moved to the Kraichgau from Brazilian top-flight outfit EC Vitoria in the second half of the 2018/19 season, featured 20 times in the TSG first-team squad in the following season and made two appearances in the Bundesliga (one goal) and one in the DFB-Pokal.

Following a loan spell with Porto Alegre club SC Internacional, Ribeiro returned to his Brazilian homeland to join then top-flight outfit Ceará SC on loan in January 2022. The South American made nine appearances in Brazil's Série A, played three matches in the Copa Sudamericana and took part in three games in the Copa do Brasil there last season. He then sustained a serious knee injury in October last year that is still keeping him on the sidelines. Ribero is currently undergoing the rehabilitation process and is expected to return to action for Ceará SC, who were relegated from the top flight and now play in the second tier, as soon as possible.
