Deserved friendly win against Servette

It took a while for TSG to find their way into the game, but André Breitenreiter's team registered their first chance after 11 minutes: however, Kasper Dolberg failed to beat the Swiss side's goalkeeper Frick with a header from an Angeliño cross. Two minutes later, Stanley Nsoki was forced off with a knock and Kevin Akpoguma came on in his stead (13).

A few moments later, Munas Dabbur fired Hoffenheim into the lead. Following a mistake by Frick, the striker lobbed the ball over the Swiss shot-stopper from 25 metres out. It was the first goal the Israeli has scored since his injury at the end of October.

Servette were awarded a penalty kick after a foul was committed in the box in the 31st minute, only for Pflücke to fire over the goal. Finn Ole Becker subsequently came on for Kramarić. All the signs pointed towards TSG being ahead at the break, but then the unmarked Severin scored from close range for Servette following a free-kick (44).

TSG rang the changes at the break, with Pavel Kadeřábek, Justin Che, Kevin Vogt, Angelo Stiller, Tom Bischof, Muhammed Damar and Ihlas Bebou introduced to the fray. Hoffenheim made a very good start after the break and put Servette under pressure from the beginning. Becker found himself in a shooting position from 11 metres out after Che's cross took a deflection, and he re-established the lead (55).

TSG continued to apply pressure, and Baumann was not required to intervene until the 71st minute when he stopped a close-range effort. The two best chances for André Breitenreiter's team were spurned by Bischof. But TSG found the net again shortly before the final whistle when Umut Tohumcu rounded off a lovely counter to make it 3-1 (89).

TSG Hoffenheim will make the return journey to Germany on Tuesday, before going up against 1. FSV Mainz 05 in their next friendly fixture on Saturday.
