TSG Hoffenheim expanding communications activities

Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim are optimising their media activities. The club are pooling their public relations work for the company, academy, women's teams and eSports under one roof. The management team is also being expanded. Konstantin Krüger, 43, is joining TSG as head of media management. Dirk Elbrächter, 50, who has been coordinating the productions of the club's channels since 2022, is being promoted to head of content management. The pair will report to communications director Christian Frommert, 56.

"The idea of bringing together the media departments of the company responsible for match operations, the academy and the women's department under one roof is one that we've had for some time. With a few years of work, we have finally succeeded in creating a real TSG media house, which is now also home to our eSport activities. We will thus create synergies and optimise public relations work, as well as internal communications," said TSG communications director Christian Frommert. In order to guarantee short paths and quick coordination, the rooms in the "Schloss Seehälde", the building completed in 1780 and renovated in 2008, were moved into the premises of the training centre in Zuzenhausen.

In this way, the club is able to meet the growing requirements not only in terms of infrastructure, but also in terms of personnel. Konstantin Krüger is joining TSG from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). In the newly created position of "head of media management", he will deal with the content development of publications such as the award-winning magazine SPIELFELD, the homepage and the app, which is currently undergoing a complete overhaul. In addition, he will be responsible for innovation and sustainability issues, and he will also head up the company's brand communications work.

Krüger has been in charge of communications and PR work at DEL since 2020. Prior to that, he worked as team leader at the renowned PR and communication agency fischerAppelt and at Sparda-Bank Hamburg, where he was instrumental in the significant development of the institute's wide range of sports sponsorship of Hamburger SV. He had previously been a press officer for the football club for six years. "The variety of topics at TSG is enormously attractive. I would like to contribute to the further development of the club in terms of communications. The sport, namely the action on the pitch, is always in the spotlight. At the same time, the way in which TSG has positioned itself off the pitch is remarkable. That work is to be expanded and made even more accessible by means of clear, coordinated communications work," said Krüger.

The social media team, previously formed by Mathis Bange and Jens Schuhmacher, has been complemented by Manuel Lutz since 1 October. The 25-year-old has been tasked in particular with the expansion of the "TikTok" platform and community management on all of TSG's social media channels. In March 2023, Lutz completed his studies in "Social Media Systems", earning a "Bachelor of Science" degree from the University of Applied Sciences Mittelhessen in Giessen.

Since 2009, Terence Träber has headed up the media work for the TSG Academy. Together with his team consisting of Christoph Erbelding and Timm Rehlinger, he will also become an important part of the TSG media house. In addition to the U19s and U17s, their focus will also be on the U23s, who are currently among the leaders in the Regionalliga Südwest and have enjoyed close links with the first team for years. Communications for the TSG women's team are in the capable hands of Pia Kielmann.

The team, which is rounded off by club spokeswoman Ruth Pintner, her colleagues Jörg Bock and Dominik Hechler, Deli Beister, Nils Hachmann, Ruben Rath (all TSG TV), assistant Isabella Budig and Gordon Lesser (eSports), also work together to develop content for the TSG platforms. In addition to the app, the home page is also being revised. A new addition is the TSG WhatsApp channel, which will be launched this Thursday.
