Anton Stach joins TSG

Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim have signed Anton Stach. The 24-year-old midfielder is making the switch to the Kraichgau from fellow Bundesliga side 1. FSV Mainz 05. He has signed a contract that will run up to 30.06.2027.

"We are very pleased that we have been able to attract another player who is on the fringes of the German senior side and helped the U21s win the Euros in 2021. Anton is a very variable midfielder who is strong both defensively and offensively and has many special skills," said TSG managing director Alexander Rosen. "He has a strong physical presence, is a willing runner with a burst of pace and excels in duels. On top of all that, with his good passing, dynamic dribbling and excellent shooting technique, Anton is always able to make things happen in the final third. In short: he is a player who will help us in every phase of the game."

"TSG Hoffenheim not only offer optimal conditions in every respect. The football the club stand for is a perfect fit for my understanding of the game," said Anton Stach. "TSG give a player like me the opportunity to develop, and I want to use that opportunity and make the most of it," said Stach, explaining the motivations behind his decision to move to the Kraichgau. "Now it is important for me to arrive here and get started in order to quickly get myself to up to full speed personally to help the team."

Anton Stach, who spent most of his youth at Werder Bremen, comes to TSG with the experience of 61 Bundesliga matches for Mainz 05, in which he scored two goals and contributed nine assists.

In the 2020/21 season, Stach played 30 Zweitliga games for SpVgg Greuther Fürth, including 21 starts and one goal, and helped the team win promotion to the Bundesliga thanks to a second-place finish. In the DFB-Pokal, he has played a total of ten games for Mainz (7) and Fürth (3).

Anton Stach was called up to the German Under-21 national team in March 2021, and helped guide them to the European Championship title. In July of the same year, he was part of the Germany side at the Olympics and played in all three games in Tokyo. A few months later, he made his debut for the Germany senior side against Israel in March 2022 – at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim.
