Andreas Beck hangs up his boots

Former Hoffenheim captain Andreas Beck has announced his retirement from football at the age of 35. The right-back most recently played for KAS Eupen in Belgium. The nine-time Germany international spent seven years at TSG and most notably helped the club become winter champions in 2008.

After 537 appearances at club level in Germany, Turkey and Belgium, it's all over: Andreas Beck is hanging up his boots. After his contract at KAS Eupen expired in the summer, the 35-year-old has now decided it is time to pull the curtain down on his playing career.

TSG Hoffenheim signed the right-back from VfB Stuttgart after their promotion to the Bundesliga in 2008 – and history was made within six months: Beck, then 21, and his team-mates became winter champions and enthralled football fans across Germany in the process. He played 237 times for TSG, scoring three goals and setting up an additional 21. With 216 Bundesliga appearances, Beck is third on the list of Hoffenheim's all-time appearance-makers in Germany's top flight.

In addition to winning the German title with VfB Stuttgart in 2006/07, Beck twice became a Turkish champion with Besiktas. He also won the U21 European Championship with Germany in 2009. He made his debut for the senior national team in February that same year and racked up nine caps in total.

TSG Hoffenheim wish Andreas Beck all the best for the future following his retirement from football!
