Breitenreiter: "It's a very sad day for us"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after TSG Hoffenheim's 3-1 defeat to RB Leipzig and the serious injury sustained by Grischa Prömel, who broke his ankle.

Christoph Baumgartner: "Both the defeat and the injury to Grischa hurt a lot. I'm extremely sorry to have caught Grischa like that in that situation. It was very bitter. At the end of the day, you have to acknowledge that Leipzig deserved the win. We made a really good start after the break and scored the equaliser. But the goal for 2-1 hit us hard, we no longer had the power to come back again."

Kevin Vogt: "We were completely in the game after the equaliser but we punished ourselves by making a simple mistake. Leipzig have a lot of attacking quality and then did well. The injury to Grischa of course hurt us. We had set out to achieve more in the last few weeks but have not gotten the results. We must accept the blame for that. We did not lose unjustly today."

André Breitenreiter (TSG Hoffenheim coach): "Many congratulations to Leipzig on a deserved victory. It's a very sad day for us. The suspicions have unfortunately been confirmed: Grischa sustained a serios injury, he has fractured his ankle. Further examinations will reveal whether damage has been done to the ligaments, but he'll be out for a very long time. The goal for 1-0 came almost at that moment; a team needs time to get over that. We then started the second half well, but such a simple error in our build-up cannot happen against Leipzig. It was immediately punished."

Marco Rose (RB Leipzig coach): "It was a strong performance from my team. We deservedly went in front, but we of course knew that Hoffenheim could be dangerous. Nonetheless, we defended everything well. After taking the lead, the lads imposed their game. It's extraordinary to perform like that against such a good Hoffenheim team. I wish Grischa Prömel all the best."
