TSG at the Frankfurt book fair

Which child doesn't dream of one day playing in the Bundesliga, maybe even in the national team? Over the course of the past year, various talented youngsters from the TSG Academy have written down their very personal stories. In the book, which was produced in cooperation with the foundation of the well-known author Nele Neuhaus and the Dietmar Hopp Foundation, the youngsters discuss their everyday footballing lives, but above all they share insights on willpower, sacrifice, pushing to the limit and reaching goals.. At the weekend, TSG presented the book to a wide audience at the world's largest book fair in Frankfurt.

Holger Kliem, head of the TSG media department, publisher Matthias Knöß (Nele Neuhaus Foundation), project manager Pia Regine and U17 players David Jochem and Adijat Sefer presented the book "Fußball findet auch im Kopf statt" (football is also in the mind) at the Econ Verlag stand on Sunday. More than 150 listeners also followed a panel discussion with the Hoffenheim players, moderated by Karin Plötz (LitCam gGmbH).

"It is incredible to see how reflective the young people are about themselves and their journey through life," said editor Knöss Matthias as he discussed the very personal and open stories shared by the TSG youngsters in Frankfurt. The eleven boys and one girl (aged between 15 and 18) spent over a year writing their accounts. "We were very keen to take part in the project right from the start and have learned a lot about ourselves along the way. More than anything else, it's about things that will maybe encourage other young people to follow their own paths," was the joint insight shared by youth players Sefer and Jochem at the Frankfurt Fair.

"It is part of our DNA at Hoffenheim not only to train young talents on the pitch, but also to get them ready for life outside football. TSG and its partner 'Anpfiff ins Leben' invest a lot of energy in this every day," said Holger Kliem, head of TSG's media department, when asked about the club's philosophy and the great success of its academy. ''We are known for our high levels of ascension from the youth set-up to senior level, a lot of young talents have made the step-up to the first team in recent years. The same is also true of football experts, such as coaches, who have had the chance to learn their trade in Hoffenheim and have since moved onto positions of responsibility elsewhere.'' A lot of this is covered in the new book, which contains numerous personal anecdotes. "It is a candid look behind the scenes at TSG. Above all, it is a book for all boys and girls who dream of playing professional football. That said, it is also worth reading for all parents of football-mad kids," says Kliem.
