Hoeness: "Transform the disappointment into energy"

TSG Hoffenheim will be looking to put Molde behind them and focus solely on the task at hand when they visit Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Sunday (13:30 CET/Live Ticker at tsg-hoffenheim.de). At the press conference prior to facing the side currently in seventh place, head coach Sebastian Hoeness spoke about the personnel situation, the opposition and the Europa League exit to Molde FK.

Sebastian Hoeness on…

the elimination by Molde FK: "I didn't have an easy time getting to sleep. We conducted a root cause analysis. There was naturally lot of disappointment. But we need to pick ourselves up quickly. If we look at the statistics, there is no way we should have lost. It was our responsibility. It's clear that we're all disappointed. But as athletes, picking ourselves up again is part and parcel of it all. That's what we'll do now."

…the personnel situation: "We came out of yesterday's game without any additional injuries. It may be that Robert Skov is back with us on Sunday, but otherwise it's the same list of absentees as before. We'll see how fit the lads are. It may be that we make a few changes."

…opponents Union Berlin: "They're having a very consistent season with a good blend of stability in defence and a cutting edge going forward. They might not have been getting the points they were beforehand in the past few weeks, but the performances haven't been bad. Nonetheless, we believe we can get something there. We want to transform our disappointment into energy so that we continue our recent Bundesliga upturn against Union."

The opposition's form:

Last weekend, Union Berlin claimed a 1-0 victory away to SC Freiburg. The result saw coach Urs Fischer's side end their five-match winless run and move up to seventh place in the table.

Head-to-head record:

The 3-1 victory for Union Berlin in the reverse fixture was the first time they have won a competitive meeting with TSG Hoffenheim. TSG won both previous meetings in the 2019/20 season 2-0 away and 4-0 at home.
