Hoeness: "Augsburg are very dangerous"

A home game under the floodlights: on Monday evening (20:30 CET, live updates on tsg-hoffenheim.de), TSG Hoffenheim will welcome FC Augsburg to the PreZero Arena. Ahead of the game, head coach Sebastian Hoeness spoke at the press conference about the personnel situation and FC Augsburg.

Sebastian Hoeness on …

… the match on Monday: "It's a hugely important game. We have the opportunity to make up a few points tomorrow that we have lost recently. This game is a chance that we have to take. We absolutely want to win the game. But we also have to keep calm. We want to take the lead again in the Bundesliga. A clean sheet would be important too. And to do that, we have to be ready right from the start."

… the opposition: "Augsburg have shown that they can make things very difficult and are dangerous. We are prepared for that and want to come out with the win. They play very directly with the ball and have quite a lot of power on the pitch. They have shown that this season."

… the personnel situation: "Jacob Bruun Larsen, Ishak Belfodil and Sargis Adamyan are on the right track, but are not yet available for the match against FC Augsburg. Otherwise, the squad is the same as in the past few days. We have six games in the next 16 days. We have some really intense weeks ahead of us. We have to manage the playing time well."

… the difference between the Europa League and the Bundesliga: "In the Europa League, the glass is quite full, but in the Bundesliga, due to the results, it has been more of a half-empty glass. Let's not delude ourselves. The performances in the league have been a little better than the points we have taken suggest, but we have not been solid enough either. That will be the big issue. If we can get that under control, the glass will be looking half full again."

The opposition’s form:

After taking seven points from their first three games, FC Augsburg have earned five more points in the past six matches and lie eighth after nine games.

Head-to-head record:

Augsburg are one of Hoffenheim's favourite opponents in the Bundesliga. Last season, FCA beat TSG away for the first time. Hoffenheim have taken four wins at home, and there have been four draws in Sinsheim. The overall head-to-head record also looks good for TSG with 14 wins and six draws with 10 defeats.
