Gaćinović: ''It's really hard to take''

Here's what the players had to say after the penalty shoot-out defeat to SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

Oliver Baumann: ''We weren't able to dictate the game. We knew that Fürth were good. But we weren't better than them overall. We had a few good phases, but respect has to go to Fürth for the way they linked up and played football. When I saved the penalty in the 90th minute I hoped that it would give us a boost. We tried our hardest and gave it all we could, but we weren't necessarily the better side. I think Fürth deserved it, and we have to acknowledge that. It's a very frustrating way to end the year. It's annoying because we played so well in the second half in Gladbach but didn't manage to do the same today.''

Mijat Gaćinović: "There are often games like this in the cup. I believed right until the end that we could win today. Oliver Baumann did a great job keeping us in the game. We often had the ball close to their penalty area, but we weren't able to create enough chances. We have to be even bolder and more consistent. We dominated the game after drawing level at 2-2 and enjoyed our best phase of play, but we weren't able to make the most of it and that's why we lost. We absolutely wanted to make it to the next round, so this is really hard to take. We want to come out all guns blazing after the short break.''
