Rudy: ''This is what we deserve''

Here's what Christoph Baumgartner, Sebastian Rudy and Sebastian Hoeness had to say after the 2-0 win away to Slovan Liberec.

Sebastian Rudy: ''It was a really difficult game. The opposition sat deep and only looked to play on the counter. They really gave it their all. A win like this does a lot of good and we're very happy to take it home with us. I'm delighted to be part of the first TSG team to make it to the knock-out stage. This is what we deserve.''

Christoph Baumgartner: ''It was a tough game, as we expected. Our opponents were set up very defensively and didn't give us much space. We had a hard time creating chances, but we were nonetheless able to control the game. My goal was set up by a superb pass from Melayro Bogarde. I didn't make a clean connection, but the ball still ended up rolling into the back of the net. I'm happy that I was able to help the team. Being able to write history like this is something special for all of us. TSG often played well in previous European campaigns, but just weren't able to get the points they needed to progress. That's something we were able to put right this year. Now we're in the knock-out phase, and we want to go even further.''

Sebastian Hoeness: ''We're very happy to have made it through the group stage. Our opponents today sat very deep and were full of motivation. We were a bit too hesitant and weren't able to play our way between the lines. It's the kind of game that you have to win. We were there at the right moments and managed to get the goal. Now we want to pick up points in Belgrade and win the group. Only then can we think about who our potential opponents might be.''
