Alexander Rosen on Kevin Volland's omission from Germany's World Cup squad

Germany national team manager Joachim Löw has submitted his final 23-man World Cup squad to FIFA. TSG forward Kevin Volland was one of three players who were struck from the provisional squad and can now go on his holidays. Apart from Volland, Löw also omitted Marcel Schmelzer and Shkodran Mustafi.

Alexander Rosen, sporting director at TSG, on the omission of Volland:

“All of us at the club had our fingers crossed for Kevin and would have been delighted for him if he had travelled to Brazil. You have to accept the decision of the national team manager as he is also convinced that Kevin more than deserved a place in the initial squad on the basis of his performances in recent months. If I know Kevin, he will have overcome the initial disappointment quickly and if he continues to play as well as he has up until now, it will simply be a matter of time until he has played his way into the inner circle of the national team. He can now recover from an exhausting season, consider these recent weeks as a good experience and then approach the new season strongly with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.”
