Stefan Posch moves to Bologna on loan

Stefan Posch is set to leave Bundesliga football club TSG Hoffenheim and join Italian top-flight side Bologna on loan until the end of the season with immediate effect. The 25-year-old Austrian central defender has been at TSG since 2015.

“Poschi is a prime example of our developmental work at TSG. He joined our academy as a youngster and moved up to the senior team via the U19s, with whom he became a German A-Junior vice-champion, and the U23s. Having played 109 games, he is now the academy graduate with the most Bundesliga appearances for TSG and a key component of the Austrian national team,” said TSG director of football Alexander Rosen. “Poschi has made a name for himself here as a reliable and uncompromising defender who is also held in high regard as a person in the dressing room. With things having not gone optimally for him in recent weeks, we deliberated the matter intensively and decided to agree to his wish for a change of scenery. We wish him all the best in the Italian Serie A.”

Stefan Posch made his debut in the autumn of 2017, first in the Europa League and then in the Bundesliga a short while later. The 16-time Austria international has since played 109 Bundesliga matches (two goals, one assist) and eight DFB-Pokal games for TSG Hoffenheim. In Europe, he has played twice in the Champions League and seven times in the Europa League for the Kraichgau club. Posch still has a contract with TSG until 30 June 2024.
