Nagelsmann: "We made our own luck"

Here we bring you the reactions from the players and both coaches after TSG Hoffenheim beat FC Augsburg 2-1.

Ermin Bicakcic: "It was a very hard-fought win. It's not easy to score goals against Augsburg. They sat deep, it was difficult to find space. We had to show a lot of movement in order to create space. It was mentally very difficult after playing Lyon in midweek, our legs got heavier and heavier. It was hard work but we're happy that we battled to the three points."

Havard Nordtveit: "It's just a good feeling to win games like that. It's tough to fight for 90 minutes, especially after such a difficult week in which we only returned on Thursday and then had to turn our attention to the next opponent immediately. But we did a good job against Augsburg. They weren't an easy team to play against today. The fact that Reiss Nelson scored the goal shows that he's in the right place here to continue his development. He's a good guy who's fitting into the team well."

Oliver Baumann: "It was incredibly difficult today. You can see towards the end that the lads were on their last legs. The game in Lyon was incredibly energy-sapping for all of us. It was unbelievable to deliver such a battling display. That was the basis. It's really difficult to play against Augsburg, they battled really well. We're absolutely delighted that we got the result in the end."

Vincenco Grifo: "Space opened up for us in the closing stages and we gave it everything to get the win. It worked extremely well, we put them under pressure. We had a few opportunities to even increase our lead to 3-1. Reiss Nelson is always in the right place, he's very important for us. It's good that we have him, I'm delighted for the lad. I'm happy with the victory and with the call-up to the Italian national team. I worked so hard for it for so long to make this day happen. Now I've been called up. I'll give it everything, I'll enjoy every moment of it and try to give my best."

Julian Nagelsmann: "We tried to surprise the opposition with a back four. The first half was a very tactical affair without major highlights. It was a typical first half after a Champions League match, in terms of struggling to get into it. We took the lead following a fortunate situation in our own penalty area. We made our own luck and invested a lot. But we looked a tad livelier, even though we've had more games under our belts than Augsburg. That's why I think that the victory is a fair result. I'm proud of the lads that they managed it."

Manuel Baum (FC Augsburg coach): "Congratulations to Hoffenheim on the victory. I'm a bit peeved about that match. We could've definitely taken a point or maybe even more with a bit of luck. We were surprised by the back four to begin with. We need to take a hard look at ourselves offensively and defensively."
