TSG sign Robert Žulj

TSG Hoffenheim have signed 25-year-old offensive midfielder Robert Žulj. The Austrian arrives on a free transfer from 2. Bundesliga side SpVgg Greuther Fürth and has agreed a contract until June 2020.

“Robert was one of the outstanding players in the second division last season,” said TSG director of football Alexander Rosen, who especially rates Žulj’s “technique and vision”.

“I am very happy about receiving the chance to be able to prove myself at this level of football,” said Žulj, who scored 19 goals and assisted a further 15 over the course of 85 2. Liga games. “I know very well that I’m going to be playing for a club that just had a phenomenal Bundesliga season and that also has a very strong squad,” said the 1.90 metre tall Austrian, who has Croatian heritage. “I want to take on the challenge from day one and do everything in my power to make a breakthrough in the Bundesliga.

Žulj moved from Linz’s youth academy to Austrian top-tier side SV Ried, before moving to RB Salzburg. He played 104 games in the first division of Austrian football, scoring 27 goals in the process, and making five appearances in the Europa League. He has also played 29 games for his country’s youth teams (U18 to U21).

July 22nd will be a special day for Robert Žulj, when he travels with TSG to their training camp in Windischgarsten (Austria, 16th – 23rd July). There TSG will play a friendly against Italian top-tier side FC Genoa – the location? His place of birth: Wels.
