Eleventh victory – TSG beat Frankfurt

TSG won their seventh match on the trot at home thanks to a last-minute header from Benjamin Hübner to grab all three points again Eintracht Frankfurt. Hoffenheim climbed above Borussia Dortmund to third place to put them in prime position to qualify for the Champions League.

Personnel and tactics: 

Julian Nagelsmann made three changes to his team, bringing Benjamin Hübner back into the back three to replace Ermin Bicakcic. Pavel Kaderabek started on the right-hand side with Nadiem Amiri back in midfield. Oliver Baumann, Kevin Vogt and Niklas Süle made up the rest of the “Hoffe” back line, while Sebastian Rudy and Kerem Demirbay took to the middle of the park alongside Steven Zuber. It took until just half an hour for Nagelsmann to make his first change, bringing off Kramaric for Mark Uth. He also made substitutions in the 74th minute as Lukas Rupp came in for Amiri. With ten minutes to go, Demirbay made way for Adam Szalai.

TSG love to score late on. After a corner from Rudy, Benjamin Hübner gets up highest. His positioning is perfect, he finds the back of the net, TSG lead. That is now Hoffenheim’s 13th goal of the season after the 80th minute, a league high.

Number of the match - 58th minute

TSG broke their club record on matchday 31 of the Bundesliga. 55 points was the highest the club had ever reached back in the 2008/2009 season. Now the team has 58 points with three games still to go.
