Friendly victory over Aalborg for TSG

One week before the action in the Bundesliga resumes when TSG take on FC Augsburg on matchday 17, the Kraichgau-based side secured a 2-0 friendly victory over Danish outfit Aalborg BK. Nadiem Amiri and Steven Zuber were on target in the first half to secure the win. Manager Julian Nagelsmann spoke of a “very good attitude” displayed by his team.

Hoffenheim started the game with Oliver Baumann in goal, shielded by a three-man defence consisting of Kevin Vogt, Ermin Bicakcic and Benjamin Hübner. Sebastian Rudy and Kerem Demirbay pulled the strings in the centre, while Steven Zuber and Jeremy Toljan worked the wings. Nadiem Amiri, Sandro Wagner and Andrej Kramaric formed the attacking trio.

TSG controlled the game against Aalborg from the start and looked to create chances. Kramaric and Amiri came close with the first opportunities, and just nine minutes into the game the latter bagged the opener. Nagelsmann’s men continued to pile on the pressure and Amiri, Kramaric and Hübner missed chances to double the advantage. Eventually it was Zuber who scored the deserved second goal 38 minutes into the contest.

Nagelsmann made one change at half-time, with Philipp Ochs replacing Zuber. His team continued where they left off in the first half, but Wagner missed his effort from close range to make it 3-0. The game now largely took place in Aalborg’s half, but Hoffenheim failed to add goals to their lead.

Nonetheless, Hoffenheim manager Nagelsmann was satisfied with the performance: “The attitude was very good today. They wanted to score goals until the end of the game, which I don’t think applies to our opponent. We had many intensive training sessions today, but the players gave their everything and played well today.”
