Cottbus match reaction

Here is the match reaction following the 3-0 win after extra time against Energie Cottbus.

Markus Gisdol:That was a typical cup match. Cottbus were stable but my team remained patient. The first goal really opened the door and then we controlled the game until the end. We remained in charge but Cottbus defended really well. We never lost sight of our plan though, we stuck to our strategy and dealt with their counterattacking play well.

Rudi Bommer:I'm definitely disappointed. We demanded everything of Hoffenheim in the first 90 minutes. Our game was all about the counterattack. Their opening goal was avoidable. The final result is more than they deserved and doesn't reflect how the game played out.

Sven Schipplock:We're delighted to progress. We made it difficult for ourselves but stuck at it after the break. Cottbus ran out of strength after a while. 120 minutes of playing time isn't a problem for the Schalke game on Saturday. We won't take the fatigue away with us, but rather the joy of having won.

Jens Grahl:The win will spur us on. It was important to progress. Cottbus sat back and we tried to create gaps. We managed to do that in the end. We were solid defensively and hardly allowed them any chances. Obviously I was delighted to play, but the most important thing is that we won. Congratulations to the team.
