VfL Wolfsburg 1-2 1899 Hoffenheim – Match Reaction

Hoffenheim won their first game under new manager Markus Babbel today, as goals from Roberto Firmino and Sven Schipplock gave them a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg. What did Hoffenheim's manager and players have to say about the game?

Markus Babbel: We missed a lot of chances today, so that makes it all the more pleasing that we managed to win the game after conceding the equaliser. We still have to work on our finishing. We weren't punished today, but we need to be more ruthless when we get in those positions. You don't get chances like we had today in every game. But I think it was a deserved win for us.

Andreas Beck: We stuck to what the coaching team and the manager told us this week, and we deserved the three points. If we hadn't won today, then I wouldn't have known what to say. It's disappointing that we let another lead slip, but we came back really well.

Sven Schipplock: For my header, I think the ball was clearly over the line. The linesman wasn't quite level with play, but it still should have counted. In the last few games we were guilty of missing chances, and it was the case today as well. But in the end we're delighted that we got our reward.

Patrick Helmes: We didn't have much luck today. There are teams in this division who might play better football than us, but I would have liked a little more support from our fans. I'm pleased I scored, but we lost the game, so it's not much of a consolation for me.
