Internationals: Bosnia near Euro qualification, Babel celebrates comeback

The first round of international matches in this break have been played and there is good news for 1899 Hoffenheim's players. Peniel Mlapa netted a hat-trick for the Germany U21s against Greece, while Ryan Babel made a successful return to the Dutch national side. Bosnia and Portugal drew 0-0 in their Euro 2012 play-off first leg.

Bosnia 0-0 Portugal

Sejad Salihovic started the game for Bosnia-Herzegovina, while his 1899 teammate Vedad Ibisevic was on the bench. The return game takes place in Lisbon tomorrow evening at 10.0pm German time.

France 1-0 USA

Daniel Williams and Fabian Johnson were in action for the USA against France at the weekend. The Americans were beaten 1-0 thanks to a goal from Loic Remy. Jürgen Klinsmann's side now face a friendly with Slovenia on Tuesday evening.

Netherlands 0-0 Switzerland

Forward Ryan Babel made his long-awaited comeback for the 'Elftal' against Switzerland at the weekend. He started the game and was replaced in the 17th minute. His Hoffenheim teammate Edson Braafheid was also in the squad, but did not feature from the bench. Holland next face Germany in Hamburg on Tuesday evening.

Nigeria 0-0 Botswana

The ‘Super Eagles' were held to a scoreless draw at home to Botswana. Chinedu Obasi featured in the game. Nigeria play a friendly with Zambia on Tuesday.

Greece U21s 4-5 Germany U21s

Peniel Mlapa helped himself to a treble as Germany defeated Greece in a European Championship qualifier. The side now travel to Cyprus on Tuesday. Sebastian Rudy is not in the squad after suffering an adductor injury.

Norway U21s 2-2 Belgium U21s

19-year-old goalkeeper Koen Casteels was in action for Belgium's Under 21 side this weekend. He completed the entire 90 minutes. Belgium now lie in 3rd place in the group behind Norway and England, with a home game to come against England this evening.

Poland U20s 1-0 Germany U20s

Germany's Under 20 side lost its first game in five after being beaten by Poland. Hoffenheim's Denis Thomalla was on the bench but did not play.
