Extended pause for Beck and Obasi – Simunic also struggling ahead of cup game

Ralf Rangnick has a few selection headaches to deal with ahead of Tuesday's cup tie against Werder Bremen (20:30 CET).

Defender Andreas Beck was diagnosed with a ligament tear in his right knee following an MRI scan on Monday which will likely keep him out for up to five weeks. Chinedu Obasi will also be unavailable for two to three weeks as he labours with an ankle injury. Both players picked up their respective injuries in Saturday's victory over Hannover 96. Josip Simunic, meanwhile, is battling to recover from a calf injury in time for Tuesday's cup tie against Bremen.
