TSG sports psychologist Dr. Jan Mayer receives award

TSG Hoffenheim and Dr. Jan Meyer, sports psychologist at the club, have been recognised for their achievements in the field of health and injury prevention for professional athletes.

The Employer's Liability Insurance Association (VBG), a professional body specialised in statutory accident insurance, gave its thanks to TSG Hoffenheim and Dr. Jan Meyer and highlighted the fresh impetus which their work has brought to the domain of injury prevention, both in football and in other sports. As a token of their appreciation, the VBG officially honoured TSG and the 46-year-old sports psychologist this week.

According to the VBG, Dr. Mayer's current project - ''Monitoring mental exhaustion – criteria for individual workload management'' - has inspired other clubs to further develop their preventative strategies.

What is more, the sports psychologist has been invited to appear as a guest speaker at several events, at which he will report on the findings of his project.

The award ceremony took place on 17 December at the TSG Hoffenheim training complex in Zuzenhausen. Joachim Fella and Dr. Karl Stöckl of the VBG were there to give the award to Dr. Jan Mayer, who was accompanied by his TSG colleagues Katharina Söhnlein and Dr. Sascha Härtel.
