Adams and Akpoguma out injured, hope remains for Bicakcic

Kevin Akpoguma suffered an eye socket fracture and a concussion as he competed for an aerial ball in the first half of the match against SC Freiburg. The 23 year old central defender had himself been substituted on in the 19th minute to take the place of the injured Ermin Bicakcic. Akpoguma was able to play on after the incident, but after complaining of discomfort during half-time, he was deemed unfit to continue. He was then taken to hospital for further medical examination. 

Ermin Bicakcic took a knock to an already strained achilles tendon. There is hope that he'll be able to make the most of the international break in order to recover in time for the resumption of Bundesliga action.  

Adams forced to cancel international commitments

Just before the whistle went for half-time on this extraordinary afternoon, Kasim Adams became the third central defender forced to leave the field of play injured. After coming off worse in a tackle in midfield, the 23 year old Ghana international was initially treated by the team doctor, who then decided it best to send him to the hospital for further tests. There it was revealed that he had suffered injuries to several ligaments in his ankle. The new arrival from Bern will not only be out of action for TSG, he will also miss out on international duty. This is also the case for Andrej Kramaric, who is yet to fully recover from the knee injury he suffered at the World Cup and is also struggling with light adductor problems. The Croatian was nonetheless able to come off the bench to score the decisive goal against SC Freiburg.
