Amiri: "I think this year will be unreal for me"

Nadiem Amiri's dream is coming true. This season he will be playing in the UEFA Champion's League with TSG Hoffenheim, the club he has been with since 2012. The 21 year old has high ambitions and is proving to be in top form.

Amiri is in good shape. Despite the current strenuous training sessions, the TSG midfielder is still laughing a lot and has no doubts, that he will enjoy the new season. With the Champions League and the U21 Euros Cup after the season in Italy looming, this year offers the usual competitions such as the Bundesliga and DFB Cup but aside from that, some big objectives plus some big stages. In that sense, the 21 year old's motivation and excitement is high, "I think that it'll be a great year for me."

During last season he experienced some highs and lows. Injuries affected his performances at the top level, and in retrospect he said, "With painkillers, you can not always fix everything, I should have taken longer breaks, but I've learnt my lesson." But now Nadiem is fit and has proven himself to be remarkably fit at this early stage in the preparations as he impressed spectators at the 3-0 win in Poecking in the first friendly against Unterhaching. Two goals were scored by the offensive midfielder, and from distance. Coach Julian Nagelsmann was also impressed by his protégé, who he had already coached in the U19s. "In the first half, our midfield was looking dangerous, which is important to see, since we have produced two top scorers."

"I am pleased about the competition"

The coach's praise was also directed at Leonardo Bittencourt, who scored the third goal. The fact that two former FC Koeln attacking midfielders have moved TSG in in addition to Vincenzo Grifo does not worry the Mannheimer, on the contrary, Nadiem is happy about the new internal competition, which shows itself in every training session. "I am pleased about the competition. Both are top players, who will take us further. " Taking a back seat is not possible in TSG's strong squad and for Nadiem there is no choice anyway. "I have to reach my limits in every training session to develop myself. I want to be more effective in all areas. The preparation is very demanding mentally. We always train with the ball, that suits me and that makes us so good. "

He has already underlined his ambitions in an impressive way in the friendly against Unterhaching. The next chance presents itself on Saturday, when the TSG meet English Championship club, Queens Park Rangers at 17:00 CET in Eppingen. One thing is certain, Nadiem Amiri is highly motivated and he leaves no doubt about that. "I have to stay physically healthy, fit and give it my all every day, so I can put myself forward to the coaching team for me to appear in the starting lineup. That's my clear goal. "
