TSG to face Kaiserslautern in DFB-Pokal first round

1. FC Kaiserslautern enter the 2018/19 season as a third-tier side, with Michael Frontzeck's side finishing bottom of Bundesliga 2 in the recent campaign. TSG will certainly have fond memories of playing at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion, having secured their Bundesliga status there with a relegation play-off win at the end of 2012/13.

"It's definitely a tricky and attractive opponent for a first-round tie," said director of football Alexander Rosen. "It will be a real challenge and so a good way to kick off the season. Of course our only target is to reach the second round."

The DFB-Pokal first-round ties will be played between 17th and 20th August 2018.
