Uth brace fires TSG to victory against Bayern

TSG celebrate a home win against Bayern München for the second consecutive season thanks to a goal in each half for Mark Uth.

Line-up and tactic

Julian Nagelsmann made four changes to the team that faced Leverkusen two weeks ago, with Pavel Kaderabek, Havard Nordtveit, Kerem Demirbay and Dennis Geiger all coming into the starting XI at the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena. Oliver Baumann Ermin Bicakcic, Steven Zuber, Nadiem Amiri, Mark Uth, Benjamin Hübner and Andrej Kramaric formed the rest of Nagelsmann’s team for the day.

TSG started with a back three of Ermin Bicakcic, Havard Nordtveit and Benjamin Hübner lining up in front of Oliver Baumann in goal. Pavel Kaderabek and Steven Zuber attacked on the flanks, with youngster Dennis Geiger sitting in holding midfield behind a midfield pair of Kerem Demirbay and Nadiem Amiri.  Mark Uth and Andrej Kramaric spearheaded the attack.

Geiger was brought off after 63 minutes and replaced by a more experienced Eugen Polanski, as TSG looked to see out the victory. Nico Schulz replaced Zuber five minutes later to make his TSG debut in the Bundesliga, before goalscorer Uth was brought off in the 75th, to be replaced by Philipp Ochs.

Moment of the Match

TSG’s opener. The Bayern defence is caught unawares with a quick throw-in. Kramaric and Uth link up expertly to punish Bayern and squeeze in the opening goal.

Number of the Match: 2 & 50

Mark Uth made his 50th appearance for TSG in the Bundesliga and crowned the occasion with two goals against record champions, Bayern. It’s the second time in two seasons that Hoffenheim have beaten Bayern at home – and Uth certainly played his part this time round!
