Bayern match reaction: "We enjoyed the win"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after TSG's 2-0 win against Bayern Munich on the third Bundesliga matchday.

Julian Nagelsmann: We weren’t on top of our game at the start. Bayern were putting us under pressure and we didn’t have the confidence to play it from the back. For sure, we had some luck with the Lewandowski chance. Everything happened so quickly with the first goal – the ball boy, Andrej and Mark. We had some good plays after that, as well. We were really stable in defence and our heading was strong. Bayern didn’t have big chances in the second half. Going 2-0 up early in the second half was fantastic for us, obviously, but Bayern then put us under huge pressure. The players who came off the bench were incredible. We defended as hard as we could. At the end of the day, it was a lucky win.

Carlo Ancelotti: We started the match brightly and then conceded after a throw-in. Of course, we’re disappointed to have lost. We were missing focus. We tried lots of crosses, but we didn’t have enough space. Despite all our efforts, we simply couldn’t score in the end.

Benjamin Hübner: We all knew that today was going to be difficult. That we were able to beat Bayern is amazing. We were in the right mindset to beat them. I am very proud of the team. I’ll have to catch up with the ball boys. I was going to the bench to have a quick drink. It happened too quickly. I really didn’t see how it happened. We can savour the victory today, but we have a hard week ahead of us. It is pointless to look at the table at this stage.

Andrej Kramaric: Everyone’s asking me about when we scored our first goal. Bayern had been the better team up to that moment. It was our first shot. It went in. I haven’t taken many throw-ins in my life, and this is the first time I have got an assist from one. I must thank the ball boy for passing me the ball so quickly. I’ll also have to apologise to him, because I did scream at him. But there was still a long way to go in the match. We knew that we were going to have to put in a shift to hold on to our lead. Bayern are one of the best teams in the world. We want to keep going in the way we finished last season. But that will be difficult because everyone wants to beat us.

Alexander Rosen: I was feeling optimistic before the game, as is always the case with me. But given that we were missing four important players, a victory today seemed even more unlikely. We took the lead out of nothing. Bayern were dominating, without having had too many good chances. Today we defended very effectively, and we managed to stay compact. Bayern had a lot of the ball and attacked a lot down the flanks. But the guys dealt with it superbly, as I knew they would.
