U19 Euros over for Hack & Geiger's Germany

The Germany U19 national team were knocked out of the European Championship after a 4-1 defeat to England. Young TSG talents Robin Hack and Dennis Geiger were in the starting XI. Hack was brought off in the second half.

Germany needed to win by a minimum of two goals to secure their progression to the semi-finals. However Frank Kramer’s men were well off the pace in the opening few minutes and caused England very few problems. Dennis Geiger and Robin Hack both started in defensive midfield and at right forward respectively as they had done against the Netherlands and Bulgaria.

England suffered a setback early on, being forced into two substitutions in the first 15 minutes due to injury. Geiger had Germany’s best chance in the first half and forced goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to tip his effort onto the crossbar. But the Germans started the second half badly and quickly found themselves two goals down after a brace from Ben Brereton. Tobias Warschewski gave the DFB-Team hope after he pulled one back, but England Ryan Sessegnon’s late brace meant there was no way back for Germany, who finish in third place in Group B with three points, meaning they will not progress to the semi-finals of the competition.
