TSG victorious in seven-goal thriller

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim secured their seventh home-victory of the season on matchday 23, notching a 5-2 win over FC Ingolstadt. Sebastian Rudy opened the scoring but the visitors fought back and found themselves in front midway through the second half. However, an impressive late flurry of goals from TSG saw them soar into the lead and on to victory. Hoffenheim remain unbeaten at home this season.

Tactics and line-up

Hoffenheim started with just one change compared to the team that faced Schalke 04 last week their starting line-up. Adam Szalai came into the team with Ermin Bicakcic taking a place on the bench. Oliver Baumann made his 23rd start of the season, with Kevin Vogt, Benjamin Hübner and Niklas Süle ahead of him. Sebastian Rudy and Kerem Demirbay pulled the strings in midfield, while Nadiem Amiri and Steven Zuber worked the wings.

Marco Terrazzino operated behind the two strikers Szalai and Sandro Wagner. Shortly after the break, Andrej Kramaric was introduced for Terrazzino. With ten minutes left to play, Jeremy Toljan replaced Amiri and five minutes later Ermin Bicakcic came on for Wagner.

Moment of the Match:

TSG concede an unfortunate goal in the 60th minute, as Süle’s attempted clearance ends up in the back of his own goal. But the boys showed a truly impressive response and Szalai’s inch-perfect header two minutes later proved the turning point of the game.

Number of the Match: 12

Whenever Andrej Kramaric enters the game from the bench danger is guaranteed. The Croatian international already scored as a substitute against Darmstadt and replicated the feat again against Ingolstadt. It was already Hoffenheim’s twelfth goal from the bench this season.
