Internationals: Five wins, four Hoffenheim goals

The final day of the international break was a good one for Hoffenheim players and their national sides. Niklas Süle and Jeremy Toljan won with the Germany U21s against the Faroe Islands and Nadiem Amiri won the Elite Cup with the U20s, whilst there were also wins for Eduardo Vargas, Pavel Kaderabek, Ermin Bicakcic and Jin-Su Kim.

Niklas Süle and Jeremy Toljan were once again in the Germany starting line-up for their European U21 Championship qualifier, with Süle at centre back and Toljan on the right. Horst Hrubesch’s side were forced to play on an artificial pitch but appeared to have few difficulties, taking the lead after eight minutes through Schalke's Max Meyer. Five minutes later, VfL Wolfsburg's Maximilian Arnold doubled the lead, before Meyer scored again and then in first-half injury time, Hoffenheim's own Süle got himself on the scoresheet. It was to be his last action in the game, as he sat out the second half.

Toljan featured in the second half and his side were able to celebrate two more goals. Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry notched after the break to secure a comfortable 6-0 win for Germany, leaving them at the top of qualifying Group 7 with nine points, 13 goals scored and zero goals conceded.

Amiri comes on as Germany U20s win

It was tight, but in the end Nadiem Amiri and the Germany U20s were able to replicate the success of the U19s, who featured Philipp Ochs and Benedikt Gimber, by winning the Elite Cup. They knew what needed to be done before the game: only a win would suffice, as a draw would have seen the title go to England courtesy of their superior goal difference.

Amiri started the game on the bench and watched on in the first half as his side laboured. Chances were at a premium for Frank Wormuth's team, whilst at the other end they defended well to keep the game scoreless at half time. Amiri came on for the second period and there was a noticeable improvement in Germany's play. Max Dittgen put his side 1-0 up a few minutes later, and Germany successfully closed out the game to secure the Elite Cup title.

VARGAS helps Chile to victory

Chile remain on the winning path in their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign. Jorge Sampaoli's side overcame Peru 4-3 in Lima in a game that will be fondly remembered by Hoffenheim striker Eduardo Vargas. He was back in the starting eleven and will be pleased with his performance as he scored twice.

Alexis Sanchez put the Chileans in the lead after just seven minutes, but Peru turned the game around, going 2-1 ahead within half an hour. Vargas scored his first just before the break to bring his side level, before Sanchez grabbed his brace to put Chile back in front. Just five minutes later, Vargas secured a brace of his own. He watched Peru's consolation goal from the sidelines, as he was substituted in the 81st minute.

Bosnia still in with Euro 2016 chance

It was all or nothing for Bosnia in Cyprus. Leading 3-2, everything was going well for Ermin Bicakcic and his side when he was brought on in the 79th minute. They were able to protect the lead successfully, and the win means they finish third in qualifying Group B. They don't qualify directly for the European Championship in France, but they will have a second chance to secure their place through the play-off stage.

KADERABEK scores

The Czech Republic had already qualified for the European Championship before their final match, but this did not mean they took their foot off the gas for their game with Holland. Their 3-2 win means that they climb to the top of Group A, and the game was a particularly happy affair for Hoffenheim's Pavel Kaderabek. He was named in the starting line-up and scored the opener on 24 minutes, before Josef Sural doubled the lead ten minutes later.

Robin van Persie's own goal gave the Czechs a 3-0 lead after half time, but Holland refused to give up. A Klaas-Jan Huntelaar goal was followed by Robin van Persie atoning for his error by scoring at the right end, but it wasn't enough for the 'Oranje,' and Kaderabek's side celebrated a 3-2 win.

Success for Kim

The international break ended with a friendly for Jin-Su Kim. South Korea won 3-0 against Jamaica with the Hoffenheim full back starting for the side managed by German coach Uli Stielike. He was brought off after 86 minutes with his team three goals to the good.
