HSV match reaction

Markus Gisdol: "The desire and passion was there, but we lacked a bit of freshness. We did well once we went down to 10 men, but at the end the match was a perfect representation of our season so far. If Jeremy Toljan scores in the 87th minute then everyone would be over the moon and we would have taken all three points. Lasogga though got the goal and we have nothing. With a bit of luck we would have taken a point, but we leave empty handed. HSV’s win was not undeserved."

Bruno Labbadia: "We are very happy to have won. We wanted to win and worked hard all week. We started well and could have scored after just 90 seconds. We didn’t finish it off well though. We seemed to always choose the wrong pass in the final third. We did very well defensively, and that allowed us to put Hoffenheim under pressure for long periods. We actually did worse against 10 men, but the boys never gave up. It was important for us to get the three points, we’re all very pleased."

Oliver Baumann: "It’s understandable that relegation is mentioned considering that we’ve only picked up 6 points so far. It is an frustrating situation, and we definitely don’t enough points. With a bit of luck we would have got at least one point today – but we didn’t get any luck. We didn’t have enough chances to score the goals that would have decided the game. It’s annoying that the goal came so late, but that’s happened a lot this season. We will have to work hard to put it right."

Michael Gregoritsch: "We were the better team over the 90 minutes. We carved out a lot of good chances. I could have sealed the game a lot earlier. They created a couple of good chances after going down to 10 men, but in the end we deserved all three points."

Pierre-Michel Lasogga: "We have good team spirit. We deserved the win today, and can drive home happy with the performance we put in. We had a lot of good chances, but we weren’t cool enough in some cases. Luckily I was able to get the goal at the end."
