Hannover 96 match reaction

Markus Gisdol, Tayfun Korkut and a few players gave their thoughts on Hoffenheim's 4-3 victory against Hannover 96.

Markus Gisdol:We were determined to win the game at all costs. The home defeat against Köln was painful and still loomed over us. Our performance in the first half was great until they scored to make it 2-1. The throw-in decision ahead of their goal was wrong though. The goal appeared to create a shift in momentum. But our reaction following their equaliser was excellent. Overall we showed a good and focused performance. Hannover's last goal of the match to make it 4-3 was avoidable and made things tense in the final stages of the match. We're happy to have recorded three points against a strong opponent.

Tayfun Korkut:We've scored three goals on the road but still return home empty handed. It's not a good day for us. We conceded two goals from set pieces and one powerful long-range shot. You simply don't deserve any points when you score a goal fewer than the opposition. The game appeared to be going in our favour after the equaliser at 2-2. In the end, we even had chances to make it 4-4. We created a lot of goalscoring opportunities, but in the end I have to congratulate Hoffenheim on their victory.

Pirmin Schwegler:I've felt very settled here at Hoffenheim since day one, but this was probably my best day yet after scoring and assisting a goal to help us win the match. We played well today. Hannover scored a goal at a bad time for us, just before the break. That gave them momentum and they scored the equaliser after the restart. But we continued to push forward and secured three vital points in the end. It was an entertaining, but also tense match. We have four games left before Christmas and our goal is to collect as many points as possible.

Eugen Polanski:The manager always says, “If you don't shoot, you won't score,” and I remembered those words today. The goal came at the perfect time for us. However, we still conceded too many goals today. We shouldn't need to score four goals at home in order to secure victory by a one-goal margin. We will need to work on this as a team in order to prevent similar games in the future. Alongside the result, I was pleased with the team's morale today. You could tell that every one of us wanted to win this game and keep the three points in Hoffenheim.

Kevin Volland:The pressure was noticeable following three consecutive defeats but we managed to translate that pressure into positive energy. We are all obviously pleased with the win, but we shouldn't concede three goals, as this just makes life harder for us. We have to keep a higher level of concentration. Nonetheless, the only thing that counts in the end is the three points.
