1899 Hoffenheim 1-1 Hertha Berlin (1-0) – Match Reaction

Hoffenheim were held to a draw by Hertha Berlin today after conceding a late equaliser for the third successive home game. Find out below what the managers and player of each side had to say.

Holger Stanislawski: Up to the first goal, I think we executed our gameplan well. But we conceded a poor equaliser. We are just too careless. We make mistakes not just once, but five or six times, and then wonder where we're going wrong. We played with so much fear at 1-0 up, and we did everything wrong that you can do wrong. We missed a great chance to go 2-0 up, and after that I think it was only a matter of time before they scored. The players have a problem with their mentality right now. After games like today, not even I can smile.

Markus Babbel: I can only compliment the team today; their performance was sensational. At the beginning we weren't in the game. Strangely enough we didn't start playing until we went down to ten men. At half-time I said to the players that we need to be tighter at the back, and they were, so I'm happy about that. I think it was well-deserved draw for us.

Tom Starke: We didn't relax when we went a goal up, and we missed a great chance to seal the game just before the end. I hope we can deliver more consistent performances in the second half of the season.

Fabian Johnson: We caught a break by going 1-0 up and them going down to ten men. I can't think of an explanation for the result unfortunately.

Andreas Beck: It's beyond explaining that we're thrown away another win at home. The manager told us at half-time what we needed to do to win, but we just didn't manage to execute it. 22 points at the hallway stage of the season is ok; 24 would have been better.
