TSG wins test match in Lauffen 11-0
There were no losers in this game - instead, there were two winners. Sportfreunde Lauffen had won the chance to play a friendly match against Bundesliga team TSG Hoffenheim through the TSG "Dream Game Project" which took place last season. The Sportfreunde mobilised the most fans to attend TSG home games last season, meaning they won a game against the team coached by Christian Ilzer. And here's a fun fact: this was Lauffen's second game against Hoffenheim since 2014.
From the start, TSG displayed the necessary gravity for the game against the regional league team. Gift Orban scored in the second minute with a lovely shot in the left corner, giving Hoffenheim an early 1-0 lead. Just one minute later, Tim Lemperle scored his first goal for TSG. The new recruit only had to tap the ball in from a short distance away (3).
The team coached by Christian Ilzer had several more chances following those goals, but it wasn't until the 13th minute that Lemperle made it 3-0 after receiving the ball from Alexander Prass. In the 27th minute, Kelven Frees scored with a header following a corner, making it 4-0. Before half time, Muhammed Damar made it 5-0 (34) with a beautiful goal from a distance, before Orban made it 6-0 (45).
For the second half, coach Christian Ilzer completely switched up the team. This time it took six minutes for Hoffenheim to score their first goal. Haris Tabaković put the ball in the net with a header (51), and just five minutes later, the attacker was there again with another header. After this the game calmed down a little, until Marius Bülter scored from a penalty following a handball (76).
Shortly before the end of the game, Luka Đurić took Hoffenheim's lead into double digits (83), before David Mokwa provided the highlight of the day by scoring from an overhead kick practically on the final whistle, making the final score 11-0.
"Of course it's fun for us. Especially when you see how excited all the children are. We want to have a presence in the region and for people to be inspired by us. Our aim was to score as many goals as possible, and I think we did a decent job of that, but in the league we'll be coming up against different opponents of course," said Marius Bülter after the game.
TSG Hoffenheim's next test match will be taking place on Saturday (19 July). Ilzer's team will be playing against second league team SV Elversberg at the FC Zuzenhausen grounds at 15:30 CEST.
