Europa League draw: TSG to face Braga, Ludogerets and Istanbul

Hoffenheim are playing in the Europa League for the 2017/18 season. The group stage line-ups were decided on Friday in the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The ex-Sweden international striker Henrik Larsson and Eric Abidal were the Europa League finals ambassadors, and assisted with the draw. Larsson drew Sporting Braga, Ludogorets Rasgrad and Başakşehir Istanbul as TSG’s opponents in the group stages.

Reaction to the draw

Hansi Flick: “We look forward to these international games. They will be a big challenge, and we gladly accept. Braga bring a lot of international experience to the table, and that’s where they have a slight advantage. We will prepare for the game intensively and have full confidence in the coaching staff and the players. I’m certain that we can be competitive in this group.”

Alexander Rosen: “Braga, Ludogorets and Başakşehir are not the biggest names in the competition, but if look carefully it’s clear that these are good teams; they finished well in their respective leagues for a reason. We look forward to our first group stage in a European competition, presenting ourselves well, and hopefully getting through to the knockout stages.”
