FC Augsburg match reaction
Markus Gisdol: “It was a deserved win for FCA. I will have clear words with my team about how to approach a game like this. I don't want to see my team play like that. We knew what we were coming up against and how Augsburg play at home. We didn't cope with it and were very lucky only to be 2-0 down at half time. It wasn't possible to turn the tide in the second half.”
Markus Weinzierl: “Credit to my players. We had a good game and deserved to win. We started well and scored the goals at the right time. The only thing we couldn't do was get a third goal. The first half was very impressive. We were compact at the back after the break, which allowed us to keep a clean sheet, something I'm very happy about.”
Alexander Rosen: “Everyone was surprised about the team's first-half performance. That wasn't the lads we know. It's not a question of mentality, as the team have showed plenty of times this season that they can come back. There was a lot missing today, even though we have been preparing for the game intensively for two weeks. We all knew what we would come up against in Augsburg.”
Andreas Beck: “We're in a relegation battle now. We have to be aware of that. We need every point and have to fight for them. We now have four games of a similar calibre. We were lacking the essentials today. Augsburg were the better team in every department.”
Kevin Volland: “Our first half performance in particular wasn't good enough. We have to get it in our heads that we have to go for it for the whole 90 minutes.”
Halil Altintop: “The first few minutes were very intensive; both teams were desperate to win. In the end, we deserved to win. We were much the better side.”
