Attila Szalai to join Kasımpaşa SK on loan
"We had very frank and detailed discussions with Attila and his advisor, in which we jointly and honestly concluded that his sporting situation here in Hoffenheim has not changed. Due to the competitive situation within the squad, we are still unable to guarantee Attila any playing time. For this reason, another loan move to Turkey is the best solution for all parties involved. I would like to emphasise that, despite the difficult sporting situation he found himself in, Attila always conducted himself in an exemplary manner at Hoffenheim and always put the team and the club first. I wish him all the best for the coming season in Istanbul and, above all, every success," said Andreas Schicker, sporting director at Hoffenheim.
Attila Szalai moved to Kraichgau from Fenerbahçe in the summer of 2023. In the first half of the 2023/2024 season, the 26-year-old defender played in five competitive matches for Hoffenheim and was then loaned to league rivals SC Freiburg for the second half of the season (three appearances). Last season, the Hungarian did not play a single game for TSG in the first half of the season and was then loaned to Belgian club Standard Liège for the second half. Szalai played in five competitive games for the Belgians.
Since making his debut for Hungary at senior level in 2019, the defender has played 47 international games for his country (two goals).
