Back in action: TSG to play first friendly of preseason
TSG Hoffenheim kicked off their pre-season preparations in front of around 1,000 fans on Sunday, and now they are looking to generate some excitement in their first friendly match. Their first test will come against SGV Freiberg, who finished third in the Regionalliga Südwest last season. SGV – Sport- und Gesangsverein – have already played two friendlies and therefore have more match practice in their legs.
Having a successful preparation period could prove vital for coach Kushtrim Lushtaku's team. After a successful previous season, the club are facing a period of upheaval. With 18 departures and 13 new signings so far, the playing squad may need some time to gel. The most prominent name on the list of new signings is Karlo Kuranyi, whose father Kevin played for TSG Hoffenheim in the 2015/16 season.
The international players will still be missing for TSG. Oliver Baumann, Andrej Kramarić and co. will join training on 14 July. New signings Bernardo, Leon Avdullahu and Tim Lemperle are set to make their debut in TSG colours.
The match will be played at the Waldparkstadion, home of 1. FC Mühlhausen. The ticket office will open at 14:00 CEST, with tickets costing €10 for adults and €5 for children.
