Prömel: "I'm looking ahead to the coming weeks with confidence"

Grischa Prömel has endured a long period of strife. After tearing his cruciate ligament, the midfielder is finally back with his teammates and is looking forward to the rest of preseason, which got underway on Sunday.

Grischa, the most important question first: how are you?

“I’m fine, I’m finally back on the pitch with the team, which is what I’ve been working towards for a long time. It hasn’t been an easy time, but that makes it all the more enjoyable to be back on the pitch with the team.”

Preparation for the new season has begun. This is usually the most strenuous time of the season. Are you looking forward to it despite that?

“When you’ve been out for so long, you’re happy about every session you get to spend on the pitch with the team. The start on Sunday was good, and I was able to get to know the new guys. I’m looking ahead to the coming weeks with confidence.”

What are your hopes for the upcoming season?

“I hope that we don’t have to sweat at the end of the season, that we break the 40-point mark very quickly. That should be the goal after a season like the one we just had. Everyone who joins us has to be enthusiastic and bring energy to the table, then I’m confident that it can be a good season. You have to learn something from such a difficult phase.”

And personally?

“Staying injury-free is my big wish. Just being fit and helping the team. It hurt me a lot last year not being able to help out properly.”
