TSG agree long-term extension with Florian Micheler – initial loan to Bielefeld

He already demonstrated his great talent and ability last season, especially in our Regionalliga team, who he helped gain promotion to the 3. Liga. Now it’s time for him to take the next step,” says Andreas Schicker, sporting director at TSG, adding: “With this early extension and subsequent loan, TSG are making a clear demonstration of our continued commitment to putting trust in our own talents, promoting their development and at the same time offering them long-term prospects in Hoffenheim. It is simply part of our philosophy to give young, talented players as much playing time as possible through these loans in order to help them develop further. We have had very good experiences with this in the past and are absolutely convinced that this will also be the case with Florian and other players in the future.”

Florian Micheler joined the TSG Academy in July 2021 and has been part of TSG Hoffenheim’s extended first-team squad since the end of the past season. The Austrian made his Bundesliga debut on Matchday 2 of last season in TSG’s fixture away to Eintracht Frankfurt (a 3-1 loss). Micheler also made a debut appearance in the DFB-Pokal, away to Würzburger Kickers, in the first round of the competition at the start of last season. Prior to that, the 20-year-old midfielder had already played 16 games (one assist) for Hoffenheim’s U17s and 48 games (nine goals / 22 assists) for the U19s, with whom he won the German championship and cup in the 2023/2024 season. Last season, Micheler played 21 games for TSG’s Regionalliga team (seven goals / four assists), helping them secure promotion to the 3. Liga. The central midfielder is also an U21 international for Austria and has played seven games for his country’s youth selection since making his debut on 6 September. Micheler has also previously represented Austria at U19, U18 and U17 level.
