Moerstedt scores in spectacular draw
The match between the Germany U19s and their English counterparts will not be forgotten in a hurry by those involved: the DFB's U19 national team, who are coached by Hanno Balitsch, played out a 5-5 draw with England in their second group game of the tournament. Having suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands in their opening game, the draw gave the DFB team their first point – and yet the prevailing feeling in the camp was one of disappointment.
And there was good reason for that: Germany were leading 5-1 in the second half but subsequently conceded four goals and missed out on the win that they had hoped for and had appeared to be a certainty. Max Moerstedt, who is representing TSG Hoffenheim at the tournament, scored a goal himself and assisted another. Germany now need a victory in their final group game against Norway (Friday at 19:00 CEST) and must also hope that the Netherlands take at least a point against England if they are to get through to the knockout stages.
