Quartet of players leave TSG Hoffenheim

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim and Diadié Samassékou are going their separate ways after six years together. TSG will also be saying goodbye to two loan players in Jakob Busk and David Jurásek, as well as Christopher Lenz. Goalkeeper Busk will return to Sønderjyske in Denmark, left-back Jurásek to Benfica in Portugal. Lenz was signed in September 2024 and had a lot of bad luck with injuries over the past season. He will not receive a new contract in the Kraichgau.

Diadié Samassékou moved from top Austrian club RB Salzburg to the Kraichgau in August 2019. In the 2022/2023 season, the defensive midfielder was loaned out to Greek club Olympiacos. He was then transferred again on loan to the then Spanish top-tier side FC Cadiz in February 2024 for the second half of the 2023/2024 season. Samassékou made a total of 97 appearances for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Europa League (two goals and five assists) in six years with the club.

David Jurásek leaves TSG at the end of his one-and-a-half-year loan. The 24-year-old Czech international had been on loan from Benfica since January 2024 and has since made 34 competitive appearances for Hoffenheim. The left-footer, who broke his forearm in preseason last year and was out for several weeks with the injury, played both at left-back and on the left side of midfield.

The 31-year-old Dane Jakob Busk joined TSG in the winter transfer window in February 2025. The experienced goalkeeper arrived as a last-minute solution to the injury to regular keeper Oliver Baumann and proved to be an absolute team player from day one in Kraichgau. Although Busk did not appear in any competitive matches for the first team, he impressed with his professional attitude in training. Busk is now returning to Sønderjyske.

Christopher Lenz and TSG are also parting ways at the end of the season. The 30-year-old full-back joined Hoffenheim in the summer of 2024 but only made two appearances for the second team in the Regionalliga due to a torn muscle fibre in October. After a lengthy rehab and reintegration phase, Lenz will now leave the club.

"Diadié has certainly had a mixed time at TSG Hoffenheim in sporting terms, but has always put himself at the service of the team and behaved with impeccable character. Unfortunately, he was repeatedly thwarted by injuries this season, meaning he didn't get the playing time he might have deserved," said Andreas Schicker, managing director of sport at TSG Hoffenheim, adding: "David has proven his qualities as a left-back time and again, but hasn't been able to call on them consistently - which certainly had something to do with his serious forearm fracture last summer, which unfortunately put him out of action for weeks. Jakob immediately and seamlessly integrated himself into the team and especially the goalkeeping unit. He has enriched daily training with his vast experience and professional attitude and has also played an important role in the dressing room. Shortly after his signing, Christopher had a lot of bad luck with injuries and was therefore unable to actively participate with the first team on the pitch. Nevertheless, his word carried weight in the dressing room and he was always on hand to offer advice and support, especially to the young players. We would like to thank all four of them for their commitment and wish them all the best for the future, both on a professional and personal level."
