Baumann:"We're relieved"
Oliver Baumann: "I've crossed myself three times. We are glad, relieved, happy and also a bit embarrassed. We're grateful that Bremen took things seriously and pulled through. Fortunately, it's all over, and we got off lightly. A lot of weight has been lifted from our shoulders. The table is fair, you have to say that. We deserve to be where we are. We can't have a year like this again. There was a lot of background noise, now it's a matter of working through this season and analysing it critically and openly."
Tom Bischof: "I was really looking forward to the game. I didn't think it would be so emotional, but it was a special moment when I was substituted and I shed a few tears on the bench. I have a lot to thank TSG for. I get on well with everyone here and I hope it stays that way."
Leo Østigård: "Of course it's important that we've managed to stay in the league. We defended well at the beginning, but in the end we conceded too many goals again. Bayern are a good team, but we have to do better and work on not conceding so many goals. The first half was better, we didn't give away much. We were told the score at half-time, but we concentrated on our game. We're delighted to stay in the league, but we have to improve significantly next season."
Christian Ilzer: "In the end, it was a very deserved win for Bayern. We maybe came close to scoring once, when Andrej Kramarić had the chance to equalise. Bayern were very effective and dominated the game. We were more courageous in the second half. It was reflective of the season as a whole, there was a lot of negativity. We're happy that we've managed to avoid relegation and can draw a big line under this season. My compliments to Bremen for doing their job on the last matchday in Heidenheim. We felt we were struggling the whole season and conceded too many goals. We have a clear plan and we want to implement it in preseason. We pulled together in the end and delivered a few performances that we can build on. That's why I'm not finishing the season completely frustrated."
Andreas Schicker (managing director for sport): "It was a very, very difficult season in which, in the end, our only goal was to remain in the league. We survived, albeit beaten and bruised, but everyone realises that things can't go on like this. We have to become more stable, because if you concede 68 goals in a season, you won't win many games. The effort required to win a game is far too high. And we realise that we need to tweak the squad and definitely make it smaller. In the end, there will be a good mix, with our own players, good talents that we bring in and also familiar TSG faces with experience. At the same time, I am one-hundred percent convinced that Christian Ilzer is the right coach for TSG Hoffenheim, who can now display the qualities he has with more time to prepare."
