"The defeat was unlucky, not necessary and really hurts"
Anton Stach: "This defeat really hurts. The conceded goals were a bit unnecessary, especially the second one. Up until the red card, we were not doing badly. We had a good phase. Afterwards, we were lacking the maturity to finish off our moves, get the ball into the box often and switch the play quickly. We created too few chances at that point. That's ultimately where it went wrong. The fact that we then conceded the third goal is okay. We open up and then it's a piece of individual play that decides the match. It's a great, great shame that we were not able to win. There was much more in it. But I personally really like it at TSG. We vary our play a great deal, which makes us difficult to contain. We're generally very flexible in the middle and difficult to defend as a result, in part because Andrej sometimes drops back. We have a good understanding. My best positions are the 6 and the 8, and I really enjoy it at TSG."
Robert Skov: "We had several good chances but we did not take them, we were not efficient enough. We must analyse why we didn't exploit our numerical superiority better. At the highest level against such a good opponent, you have to produce a flawless performance. But we made a few mistakes too many. BVB took every opportunity that they got."
Oliver Baumann: "The defeat was unfortunate, not necessary and really hurts. With stoppage time, it felt as though we were a player up for half an hour – but beforehand a tad better and with the clearer chances to equalise. With a man extra, it became more difficult. We pressed and pressed but couldn't get the ball in. Once a man up, we should have switched the play even more often, played more quickly and played more maturely. In other words, not playing every ball in but preparing the chances better. But Dortmund were then very compact. Perhaps the game was a match that we can learn from so that we take points from such games in the future. We're very disappointed, there was more in it."
Pellegrino Matarazzo: "Congratulations to BVB on the victory. We conceded unnecessary goals in the first half. I was not satisfied with our pressing system, we also showed too little enthusiasm in possession of the ball. After the equaliser, we had a spell of pressure but the goal for 2-1 came at an inconvenient time. We started the second period well but unfortunately did not take our chances. We played far too slowly after the dismissal, not with width and with depth. In that phase, we created too few chances to score. We're in a phase in which we want to improve our performances. I'm disappointed that we didn't come away with more today."
Edin Terzic (Borussia Dortmund) head coach: "It was a very intensive and close game. We showed different sides to ourselves. We started the game well but created too few goalscoring chances. Then we took the lead and allowed the opponent to get into the game. We lost the balls in very dangerous areas. We took too long to find our way back into the game. At the beginning of the second half, we had the rub of the green for both of TSG's big chances. But after the unnecessary dismissal, the team showed character, defended well and made an impact going forward again. It's a very important victory for us, we're very satisfied with it."
