Next stop: quarter-finals?

On Wednesday (20:45 CET), TSG Hoffenheim will play host to SC Freiburg in the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal. For TSG, it could mean the end of a long wait. We have all the facts and figures you need to know ahead of #TSGSCF below.

TSG Hoffenheim and SC Freiburg have met in the DFB-Pokal once before. In the 2008/2009 season, Freiburg ran out 3-1 winners in the second round.

In the fourth minute of injury time on Matchday 15 of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season, Chris Richards gave TSG a 2-1 victory in the Baden derby.

It has been seven years since TSG last made it through to the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal. On that occasion back in 2015, they were beaten 3-2 by Borussia Dortmund after extra time.

Hoffenheim are looking to add their name to the hat for the last eight for the eighth time. The team from the Kraichgau achieved that feat in 2004, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015.

SC Freiburg have conceded just 23 goals to date in this Bundesliga season. Only Bayern Munich (18) and Mainz 05 (21) have been stronger defensively.

If Andrej Kramarić were to score on Wednesday, it would be the Croat's 100th goal in competitive games in a TSG shirt. No other Hoffenheim player has achieved that feat for the first team.

Unfortunately, only 500 fans will be allowed inside the PreZero Arena on Wednesday. Hopefully there are better days ahead.
