Karazor: "TSG can pose a danger to any opponent"

Atakan Karazor made a successful return to the Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart last term. So far this season, however, the Swabians have not managed to meet their own expectations and are currently down in 13th place in the table. In an interview with tsg-hoffenheim.de, the defender spoke about the current season, his personal performances and the clash with TSG.

Atakan, you have five points on the board after six rounds of matches. How satisfied are you with the start to the season?

"If you look at it solely from a points perspective, then of course it should've been one or two points more. We have played games against the likes of Freiburg and Bochum where we could've come away with more. But I don't base my assessment on that. I can see how well we're working in the training sessions and how we're improving bit by bit. That's why I'm confident that more success is just around the corner."

Stuttgart have not recorded a victory since their convincing 5-1 win on the opening day of the season. What's been missing recently?

"In Bochum, we kept a clean sheet for the first time this Bundesliga season. If we'd seen through one or two attacks better towards the end of the game, then victory would also have been possible. We need to work on that as well."

You have recently established yourself in the Stuttgart line-up. What are your objectives this season?

"It's our second season in the Bundesliga since gaining promotion. There are more teams in the league who are at a similar level to us. Our task will be to continue our development as a team and secure our place in the division come the end of the season."

Hoffenheim redeemed themselves with a win last weekend. What kind of game are you expecting on Saturday?

"I'm expecting a difficult game against a strong and experienced opponent. By beating Wolfsburg at home, TSG have shown they can pose a danger to any opponent on a good day. We'll do everything we can to compete with Hoffenheim."

What are you particularly looking forward to and what will determine the match?

"I'm just looking forward to playing a home game again with our fans behind us. We need a good mix of defensive stability and good play going forward too. It'll be about performing with courage from the start and showing what we've been working on in training this week."
