Schreuder: ''We have to deliver a top performance''

On to the next round: this Tuesday (18:30 CET), TSG Hoffenheim make the trip to take on MSV Duisburg in the second round of the DFB Cup. The team will have one thing on their mind: progress to the last 16. In the build-up to the tie against the third-tier underdogs, Head Coach Alfred Schreuder and goalkeeper Oliver Baumann sat down to discuss the opposition, going into the game as favourites as well as the overall significance of the DFB Cup

Alfred Schreuder on…

…going into the match as favourites: ''We're obviously the favourites, we're well aware of that. But in the DFB Cup that means absolutely nothing. We need to deliver a top performance right from the first kick of the ball. We're solely focused on Duisburg just now and haven't given a thought to the match against Paderborn.''

…MSV Duisburg: ''Although they're in the third tier, they play more like a good 2. Bundesliga side. They play some very nice football. We'll have to keep our cool. Both in our heads and on the ball.''

…the significance of the DFB Cup: ''The cup is always important. As a player and as a coach you always want to go far in the cup. We have to bring this mentality to the match tomorrow. We have to demonstrate that we want to go all the way.''

Oliver Baumann on…

…the big game on Tuesday: ''We saw how much the cup means in the first round. We have to be switched on and we can't allow ourselves to underestimate our opponents. We want to make it to the next round. We're looking forward to playing in a great stadium.''

…the first round match against Würzburg: ''I think we all agree that another penalty shoot-out is the last thing we need right now. We were happy to have progressed to the next round even if we weren't particularly satisfied with our performance.''
