Stafylidis joins TSG on a free transfer

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have signed Greece international Konstantinos Stafylidis from fellow German top-flight outfit FC Augsburg. The 25-year-old left-back will join the Kraichgau club, where he has signed a contract until 30 June 2023, on a free transfer.

Alexander Rosen believes Stafylidis represents a highly interesting option for TSG, "as Stafy can be deployed on the wing, on the left of a back four or even slightly further forward if we are building the play with a back three". The TSG Hoffenheim director of football described the Greece international as a "consistent and clever tackler who additionally possesses a strong left foot and footballing qualities which, alongside his exceptional fighting spirit, will be beneficial to us".

"I'm really happy about the transfer and I can't wait to prove myself at this brilliant club. Like so many players have done in the past, I want to reach my best-possible level here and I can guarantee that I will give my heart and soul on the pitch to achieve this objective from the very first day," said Stafylidis upon signing for his new team.

Stafylidis, who was born in Thessaloniki, came to Germany from PAOK Saloniki and moved from Bayer Leverkusen to FC Augsburg in the summer of 2015. He has previously made 53 Bundesliga appearances (five goals, one assist) and played seven Europa League matches. In addition, he has enjoyed spells in the English Premier League (Stoke City) and Championship (Fulham). Stafylidis is currently a 24-time Greece international and has scored two goals for his country.
