"It was our own fault"

Here are the player and coach reactions to the 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Kevin Vogt: "We created so many opportunities without scoring any goals, then we made it easy for the opposition and virtually scored two own goals. That's depressing. We gave the goals away way too cheaply. We have seven points, that's paltry, we shouldn't gloss over that. We don't need to be looking above us at the moment and have to take the situation as it is. We'll stay true to ourselves. But the fact is that scoring the first goal from time to time would do us good at present."

Oliver Baumann: "We needed the three points to keep pace in the table. It was very frustrating today. We delivered a very good performance but then gave away such simple goals and didn't score nearly enough ourselves. The congested fixture list isn't the reason we lost. We attack well but just can't get the ball in the goal. Given all our efforts, the return is nowhere near sufficient at the moment."

Joshua Brenet: "It was our own fault. We had enough opportunities and played the ball horizontally into the box almost 50 times, but didn't get anything from it."

Florian Grillitsch: "As has so often been the case this season, we didn't take our chances, that's our shortcoming at the moment. Then we went 1-0 behind from their first chance, it's obviously tough to take. We always try to keep a clean sheet and to get enough chances to score more goals than the opposition. Our beautiful football isn't being rewarded. We're disappointed with ourselves, because we'd all set out to achieve more this season. The break comes at a good time for us to work on one or two things."

Julian Nagelsmann: "We were in the game, found space well and had enough opportunities. We discussed a few things after falling behind. After going 2-0 down, it was very difficult for us. The goal we pulled back came too late. Currently, we don't have the quality to win games like that. It's not very much fun at the moment."

Adi Hütter (Eintracht Frankfurt coach): "Today's game rounded off an excellent week in which we've won three games. It was a difficult game for us. Hoffenheim were the better team in footballing terms. The opening goal turned the balance of play on its head. Julian has a very good and interesting team. My team fought until the final whistle and picked up three points away to a strong opponent."
