Copa America: Firmino scores for Brazil

Brazil have won Group C at the Copa America following a 2-1 victory in their final group game against Venezuela, and are safely into the quarterfinals. TSG’s Roberto Firmino played a key part in the Selecao’s triumph.

The Hoffenheim attacker started for the second game in a row and put in a fine performance. Thiago Silva fired Brazil in front after nine minutes, before Firmino made it 2-0 to the five-time World Champions just six minutes after the break.

Willian did well on the wing to beat his man and deliver a dangerous cross, which the Hoffenheim man was able to steer into the back of the net. Firmino was subbed off in the 67th minute with the Selecao still two goals to the good. David Luiz came on to help shore up the defence, although Venezuela pulled a goal back in the 84th minute through Fedor. However, Carlos Dunga’s side comfortably saw out the result.

Firmino & Co. will next be in action on 27th June at 23:30 CEST. They will face Paraguay in the Copa America quarterfinals.
